Georgia Annual Registration
To change your registered agent in Georgia, you file an Annual Registration with the Corporations Division. This is normally filed between January 1 and April 1. However, to change to your registered agent, company address, or registered office address, the form can be filed at any time throughout the year.
There is a $50 filing fee. An Annual Registration can be filed through the mail, but it is preferrable to file the form online. Online filings are processed immediately.
When filing, you will need your Control Number, which was issued to your company when it was formed. If you have forgotten your Control Number, you can do a Business Name Search at the start of the online filing, which will bring up your company records along with your Control Number.

Can I Change Georgia Registered Agent Online?

If I File an Annual Registration After April 1 to Change My Agent, Do I Still Have to File Again the Following Year?
Yes. No matter how many times you file an Annual Registration during the calendar year, you will always be required to file one the following year between January 1 and April 1.

Yes. The Georgia Code requires all business entities to designate and maintain a Georgia registered agent. You cannot form a business with the Corporations Division or register a foreign (out-of-state) company without appointing a registered agent.
A Georgia registered agent must be one of the following:
- A resident of the state whose business office is identical with the registered office
- A domestic corporation, non-profit, or LLC whose business office is identical with the registered office
- A foreign corporation, non-profit or LLC authorized to do business in Georgia whose business office is identical with the registered office
You must appoint a Georgia registered agent when you form a domestic business or when you are registering an out-of-state company. You can make the appointment on the following forms:

Yes, you can legally appoint yourself as your own registered agent in Georgia. However, in order to do so, you must maintain all of the legal qualifications for registered agents:
- Be a resident of the state
- Have a physical address within the state
- Keep regular business hours at your registered office
- Accept service of process on behalf of your company

Each corporation must continuously maintain in this state:
(1) A registered office that may be the same as any of its places of business; and
(2) A registered agent, who may be:
(A) A person who resides in this state and whose business office is identical with the registered office;
(B) A domestic corporation, nonprofit domestic corporation, or domestic limited liability company whose business office is identical with the registered office; or
(C) A foreign corporation, nonprofit foreign corporation, or foreign limited liability company authorized to transact business in this state whose business office is identical with the registered office.
