How to File a Hawaii Foreign Corporation Qualification Document

  3. When completing the Application for Certificate of Authority, you must appoint a Hawaii registered agent. The registered agent accepts service of process on behalf of your corporation.
  4. After submitting the appropriate documents and paying the fees, your filing will be processed in one to two weeks (four to five days online).
  5. Once the foreign corporation qualification is processed, you will be required to file a Hawaii Business Filing each year during the quarter of the year in which you registered. There is a $15 filing fee. Annual Business Filings can be submitted online.

What is a Certificate of Good Standing?

A Certificate of Good Standing (also called a Certificate of Existence) is issued by your home state’s Secretary of State. The document certifies the existence of your corporation and acknowledges that your company is currently in good standing (has paid all of its taxes).

When submitting a Certificate of Good Standing, the document must be in English. If it is not, you must include a translation under the oath of the translator.
