DBA

A DBA allows a business to “do business as” under a name that differs from its legal name (i.e., different than the name of the corporation or LLC).  A DBA is obtained by making required filings with state or local governmental agencies.  A DBA also allows the owner of an incorporated entity or LLC to operate his or her business under a business name and not such individual’s name.

A DBA is not required but is optional if a business owner wishes to operate his or her business under a different name.
